What running means to you/why is it important in your life: I discover running while in middle school because of some great teachers and coaches I had. Running can be a lifelong activity and can take you places where you may never go and meet and see thing you may never have been able to otherwise. I have learned many lifelong skills through running that I apply to my everyday life.
What you love about specialty running stores: What I like about specialty running store is the individual attention you get to from the staff along with the wealth of knowledge they have. The staff will get you in the right pair of shoes and the right gear to help you reach your goals in your running experience.
Greatest running achievement:
It is hard to pick just one great running achievement because the sport of running has lead me to many opportunities. I have been fortunate to coach at a local high school now for over 20 years, I have traveled with other coaches, mentors, and friends to the NCAA Nationals, Olympic Games and Olympic track and field trials. But I think my greatest running achievement has been running a negative split in the 2000 Chicago Marathon
Favorite brand: Adidas (I love my Tempos!) My favorite apparel brand is Craft, they have phenomenal gear that keeps me moving through the winter!!
Favorite distance and race you have run: The half marathon. I feel it's the perfect balance between distance and speed. However, my favorite race is the Afton Trail Race 25K. This race is awesome in every way possible; great after party, support stations, and just an awesome vibe with tons of great people around you.
Near term or ultimate running goal: My near term goal is to build my base back up to a consistent 20-30 miles a week. Long term or ultimate goal is to eventually do a 50 mile race 2018 or 2019!
What running means to you/why is it important in your life: Running has always been a way to relieve stress and just spend time with myself and being able to escape from everything. Today it still means the same but has even more meaning. It has given me more appreciation for my life. The fact that I am still able to run is an absolute miracle. Quick back story I was involved in a bad bike accident (was hit by a Jeep) in September of 2016. I came out of the accident without any broken bones or major organ damage. Running most recently has taught me that you truly can overcome anything. You just need to believe in yourself and surround yourself with positive encouraging people!
What you love about specialty running stores: I shopped here before working here and it was always an excellent experience. Especially in today's world it is hard to find individualized care from someone who truly wants what it best for you, the customer.

Running is very important to me. It is my remedy for nearly everything, and even if it is a run that I am not happy with, I still feel better than I did when I started. Running is an inexpensive activity, which nearly anyone can do. It never gets easy, we just get faster.
What I love about specialty running stores: Is the one on one customer service, and the wealth of knowledge that all staff offers. Whether you are just getting off the couch, or finishing your 100th race, a specialty running store has everything you need to get you running comfortable, safely, injury free and of course looking good. I love working for Performance Running Outfitters. When I go to my place of employment, “work” should not be so much fun. As a runner, my “work” consists of helping runners, talking to runners, talking about and selling running shoes, and running gear, and having a great bunch of co-workers that all share similar interests.
My greatest running achievement(s): I have ran in 8 marathons, with my most recent accomplishment being 2nd place finish at the 2012 Fox Cities Marathon with a personal best time. One of my other running achievements was finishing the 2012 Twin Cities Marathon. I ran this marathon as a charity runner benefitting “Run to Stop MS”. In 2012 my sister was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and this was a lot of fun raising funds for multiple sclerosis research, and running this marathon in honor of my sister.

What Running Means to Me/Why is it Important in My Life: I have been running since I was six years old. Running was the foundation for all of the sports I have participated in, and regardless of my age, I will continue to run for the rest of my life. Whether it’s a hot, June day or a snowy, January morning, all I need is a pair of running shoes, and I can run anywhere and for however long I want. I’ve been asked quite often why I run alone. My answer: running is my escape from the chaos that occurs from day to day; everyone needs personal time each day to recover from the stressors that weigh us down. To keep it simple: running keeps me sane. Not everyone calls themselves “runners” but everyone can run!
What I Love About Specialty Running Stores: I love how everyone who walks through the door is treated as an individual. Your story of why your here is different from her story, and his story, and my story. At specialty stores, especially PRO, we take time to listen to you, and cater to your individual needs. Not only are you purchasing high quality materials, but you’re also receiving information about each product and WHY it fits your lifestyle and preferences. In addition, we provide you with the proper information you need to make a decision about the product, while omitting our opinions. We have tried on EVERY shoe on the wall, and EVERY piece of apparel, so please don’t hesitate to ask us questions; we’re here to help you!

My favorite triathlon is the Woodson YMCA Triathlon in Wausau, WI.
